Duties:

 

A Qualified Mechanic is responsible for performing routine maintenance, repairs, and diagnostic checks on a range of vehicles and machinery. This includes troubleshooting mechanical issues, replacing faulty components, and ensuring vehicles are operating efficiently and safely. A Qualified Mechanic must demonstrate proficiency in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, and possess a deep knowledge of automotive and/or heavy equipment systems.

 

Experience required:

 

• Diagnosis and Troubleshooting:

o Inspect, diagnose, and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults in vehicles or machinery.

o Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify problems.

o Recommend and perform repairs as necessary, ensuring the vehicle or machinery is safe and operational.

• Maintenance:

o Conduct scheduled maintenance and servicing on vehicles/machinery, including oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, fluid checks, and more.

o Replace parts such as spark plugs, filters, belts, and hoses.

o Perform preventive maintenance to avoid costly repairs and breakdowns.

• Repairs and Replacements:

o Repair or replace faulty components like engines, transmissions, suspension systems, electrical systems, and more.

o Work with both manual and automated systems, ensuring that all repairs meet manufacturer specifications.

• Customer Interaction:

o Communicate with clients or vehicle owners to understand issues and explain required repairs.

o Provide detailed estimates for repair costs, time frames, and part replacements.

• Documentation and Reporting:

o Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and work completed for each vehicle or machine.

o Follow safety protocols and report any unsafe conditions or potential hazards.

• Quality Control:

o Test vehicles or equipment after repairs to ensure everything functions as expected.

o Perform road tests (for vehicles) or operational tests (for machinery) as required.

• Tool Maintenance and Safety:

o Use and maintain a range of hand and power tools, ensuring they are in good working condition.

o Follow all safety guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.
