Duties:

 

JOB TITLE: Furnace Technician, Electrical Team Leader

REPORTING TO: Maintenance Manager Team

DEPARTMENT: Maintenance

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Along with the Maintenance Management team plan and

supervise the work load of the electricians, contractors and assist with the training of Somers

Apprentices. Deputise for the Maintenance Management Team when required.

JOB PURPOSE: improve furnace reliability, plan and review furnace survey schedules, plan and

organise and oversee furnace instrument calibrations. Carry out thermocouple calibration and

replacement programs.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: On a daily basis, check all furnaces are working

correctly. Check all qualified furnaces are operating within the specifications of their qualification

and sign off the charts, maintain a daily log reporting the above.

Attend to and repair any fault that may occur on a furnace.

On a weekly basis carry out system accuracy tests (SATS) on all qualified furnaces and produce

documents to log results. On a monthly basis carry out preventative maintenance checks on a

rolling program on all furnaces.

Plan and review all furnace instrument calibration sign certificates and keep documents in a

register. Manufacture, calibrate and re-calibrate Type R thermocouples and keep in a register.

Replace Type K thermocouples and keep in a register. Issue certificates of calibration to each

surveyed furnace, to each thermocouple Type R and Type K and for each furnace denoting where

each thermocouple is located its' date of issue and the date showing next calibration due.

KEEP AND MAINTAIN ALL CALIBRATION RECORDS.

To work in other departments when required.

Any other duties deemed to be required.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: Attend weekly Maintenance, Forge, and departmental

production board meetings

JOB CHALLENGES: To improve Furnace reliability, Long term succession planning for Furnace

engineer, Improve visibility of electricians work load.

RELATIONSHIPS: Senior Management Team, Maintenance Team, Shop floor operators and sub?contractors

 

Experience required:

 

Strong Leadeship, self motivated  strng engineering back ground  Level 3 NVQ BTEC
